These Terms & Conditions apply to online private Dutch lessons purchased from Nederlands uit de war through nederlandsuitdewar.nl.
By purchasing a lesson or lesson package, you enter into an agreement with Nederlands uit de war. Please read these Terms & Conditions before completing your purchase.

2. Lessons and lesson packages
Nederlands uit de war offers live online private Dutch lessons.
Lessons have a duration of 60 minutes.
Students can purchase:
- a single private lesson;
- a package of 4 private lessons; or
- a package of 8 private lessons.
Lesson packages are personal and intended for use by the person for whom they were purchased.
In exceptional circumstances, remaining lessons may be transferred to another person with prior agreement from Nederlands uit de war.
3. Prices and payment
All prices shown on the website are in euros (€) and include applicable VAT unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Payment must be made in full before the lesson or lesson package can be used. Lesson packages are paid in full at the time of purchase.
Nederlands uit de war does not offer automatically renewing subscriptions.
Discount codes may be offered from time to time. Any conditions associated with a specific discount code will apply in addition to these Terms & Conditions.
4. Booking lessons
Lessons are booked through the online booking system on nederlandsuitdewar.nl.
When purchasing a single lesson, the student selects an available date and time during the booking process.
When purchasing a lesson package, at least one lesson must be scheduled at the time of purchase. The remaining lessons can be booked later through the student’s personal booking page.
Lessons can be booked up to 4 hours before the available starting time.
Availability is offered on a first come, first served basis. Purchasing a lesson package does not guarantee availability at a particular date or time. Students can choose from the available time slots shown in the booking system.
5. Validity of lessons and lesson packages
Single lessons and lesson packages are valid for 3 months from the date of purchase.
All lessons must be scheduled and used within this period.
Students are responsible for booking their lessons in sufficient time before the expiry date. Nederlands uit de war cannot guarantee availability for students who wait until shortly before their package expires to schedule their remaining lessons.
An extension may be granted in exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of Nederlands uit de war. Students must request an extension in reasonable time and must have made a reasonable effort to use their lessons during the original validity period.
An extension is not guaranteed.
6. Rescheduling and cancelling lessons
A booked lesson can be rescheduled free of charge until 12 hours before the scheduled starting time.
Each individual lesson may be rescheduled a maximum of two times.
Students can reschedule their lesson through their personal booking page.
Alternatively, a student may contact Nederlands uit de war by email. When requesting a reschedule by email, the student should provide an alternative preferred date and time. The request must be received more than 12 hours before the scheduled starting time.
If a student cancels a lesson more than 12 hours before the starting time, the lesson will be returned as lesson credit and can be booked again within the applicable validity period.
Cancellation does not entitle the student to a monetary refund, except where the student has a statutory right to a refund, including the statutory right of withdrawal described in section 13.
A lesson cancelled or rescheduled less than 12 hours before its scheduled starting time will be charged in full and the lesson credit will be considered used.
If a student does not attend a scheduled lesson without cancelling in time, the lesson will be charged in full.
7. Late arrival
Students are responsible for joining the lesson on time.
If a student arrives late, the lesson will still end at the originally scheduled ending time. Time lost as a result of the student’s late arrival will not be added to the lesson or made up at another time.
8. Exceptional circumstances
Nederlands uit de war understands that unexpected circumstances can occur.
In exceptional circumstances, a lesson may be rescheduled at the discretion of Nederlands uit de war, even when the normal rescheduling period has passed, provided that the student contacts Nederlands uit de war by email before the scheduled start of the lesson.
This exception is assessed on a case-by-case basis and does not create an automatic right to reschedule.
9. Cancellation by Nederlands uit de war
If Nederlands uit de war needs to cancel a lesson, the lesson credit will remain available and the student can reschedule the lesson free of charge.
The cancellation will not count towards the maximum number of times a student may reschedule an individual lesson.
Where reasonably possible, the student will be informed of the cancellation as soon as possible.
10. Online lessons and technical requirements
Lessons normally take place online using Google Meet.
Students are responsible for having a suitable device, stable internet connection, working microphone and any other equipment necessary to participate in an online lesson.
If a technical problem on the student’s side prevents the lesson from taking place, Nederlands uit de war may, where reasonable, agree to reschedule the lesson. This is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
If a technical problem on the side of Nederlands uit de war prevents the lesson from taking place properly, the lesson will be rescheduled without additional charge.
If Google Meet or another external service experiences a technical failure, Nederlands uit de war and the student will, where reasonably possible, try to continue the lesson using another suitable video platform.
11. Lesson materials and intellectual property
Lesson materials provided by Nederlands uit de war are intended solely for the student’s personal educational use.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- PDFs;
- exercises and worksheets;
- presentations;
- videos;
- written texts;
- teaching materials; and
- other course or lesson content created or supplied by Nederlands uit de war.
Unless prior written permission has been given by Nederlands uit de war, students may not:
- share the materials with other people;
- publish or upload the materials online;
- sell or commercially distribute the materials;
- reproduce the materials for commercial purposes;
- use the materials to provide their own lessons, courses or training; or
- otherwise commercially exploit the materials.
All applicable intellectual property rights remain with Nederlands uit de war or, where third-party materials are used, with the respective rights holder.
12. Recording lessons
Lessons are not recorded by Nederlands uit de war as a standard part of the service.
Students may not make audio, video or screen recordings of a lesson without prior permission from Nederlands uit de war.
Where permission to record a lesson has been granted, the recording is for the student’s personal use only.
A recording may not be published, uploaded, shared with others, sold, commercially distributed or used to provide lessons or training to other people without prior written permission.
13. Statutory right of withdrawal
Consumers who purchase lessons online generally have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal. The withdrawal period starts on the day the agreement is concluded.
To exercise this right, the student must clearly inform Nederlands uit de war of the decision to withdraw within the 14-day period.
This can be done by email at:
No specific wording is required, as long as it is clear that the student wishes to withdraw from the agreement.
If the student expressly requests that the provision of lessons begins during the 14-day withdrawal period, lessons may take place before that period has ended.
If the student subsequently exercises the right of withdrawal before the service has been fully performed, the student may be required to pay an amount proportionate to the services already provided, where permitted by applicable consumer law and where the required information and request to begin performance have been properly provided and obtained.
Once a service has been fully performed during the withdrawal period, the statutory right of withdrawal may be lost where the legal requirements for doing so have been met, including the student’s prior express request and acknowledgement.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits any mandatory consumer rights.
14. Refunds after the withdrawal period
After the applicable statutory withdrawal period has expired, payments for unused lessons are generally non-refundable.
Students remain responsible for booking and using their lessons within the applicable 3-month validity period.
This does not affect any statutory rights the student may have under applicable consumer law or any refund expressly provided for elsewhere in these Terms & Conditions.
15. Learning outcomes
Nederlands uit de war provides professional Dutch language teaching tailored, where appropriate, to the student’s level, learning goals and progress.
Language learning results depend on many factors, including participation, practice, previous knowledge, frequency of lessons and individual learning circumstances.
For this reason, Nederlands uit de war cannot guarantee a particular learning outcome, language level or level of progress within a particular number of lessons.
Nederlands uit de war also does not guarantee that participation in lessons will result in passing an NT2, integration, language or other examination.
16. Respectful behaviour and termination
Nederlands uit de war aims to provide a safe, professional and respectful learning environment.
Discriminatory, racist, sexually inappropriate, sexually harassing, threatening, intimidating, aggressive or seriously abusive behaviour towards Nederlands uit de war will not be accepted.
If a student engages in such behaviour during a lesson, Nederlands uit de war has the right to end the lesson immediately.
The lesson during which the unacceptable behaviour occurs will be considered used and will not be refunded.
In serious cases, Nederlands uit de war may terminate the teaching relationship and block the student from making future bookings.
If the student has purchased a lesson package, unused lessons remaining after termination by Nederlands uit de war under this section will be refunded. The refund will be calculated based on the actual amount paid for the package, including any package discount or discount code that applied to the purchase.
For example, the amount actually paid for the package will be divided by the number of lessons in that package to determine the refundable value of each unused lesson.
This section does not limit Nederlands uit de war’s right to take other appropriate action in response to unlawful conduct.
17. Personal responsibility
Students are responsible for providing accurate information when making a booking and for keeping their contact information up to date.
Students are also responsible for checking booking confirmations and ensuring that they join the correct lesson at the scheduled date and time.
18. Complaints
If you have a complaint about a lesson, purchase or service, please contact Nederlands uit de war first so that we can try to resolve the issue together.

If a consumer and Nederlands uit de war cannot resolve a dispute directly, the consumer may have the right to use the applicable official consumer complaints or alternative dispute resolution procedure.
For consumers residing in Denmark, information about consumer complaints is available through the Danish consumer complaints system.
Consumers residing in another EU/EEA country may also be able to obtain assistance from their local European Consumer Centre in relation to a cross-border consumer dispute.
19. Applicable law and mandatory consumer rights
These Terms & Conditions and agreements with Nederlands uit de war are governed by Danish law.
If the student is a consumer residing in another country, this choice of law does not deprive the student of any mandatory consumer protection provided by the law of their country of residence where such protection applies under applicable law.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude or restrict rights that cannot legally be excluded or restricted.
20. Changes to these Terms & Conditions
Nederlands uit de war may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time, for example when services, booking procedures or applicable rules change.
The Terms & Conditions applicable to a purchase are generally the version made available to the student when the agreement was concluded.
The latest version is always available on nederlandsuitdewar.nl.
